New isoquinoline alkaloids from the stem bark of <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Berberis aristata</i>

1237-1241Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the stem bark of Berberis aristata (Berberidaceae) yields three new isoquinoline alkaloids characterized as 14β-hydroxy-15β-(3′,4′-dimethoxyphenyl ether)-5,6-methylenedioxy-9(10),11(16)-tetradehydroberbinium 1, 14β-hydroxy-15β-(3′,4′-dimethoxybenzoate)-5,6-methylenedioxy-9(10),11(16)-tetradehydro- 17-one-berbinium 2, and 14β-hydroxy-15β-(3′,4′-dimethoxybenzoate)-5,6-methylenedioxy-9(10),11(16)-tetradehydro-1-one berbinium 3. The structures of these phytoconstituents have been elucidated on the basis of spectral data analysis and chemical reactions
